In a recent column, Gene Collier takes a break from analyzing college and professional football games and instead provides a litany of infractions committed by many of the players (“College Teams Also Reek of Negativity,” Oct. 11).
But he never seems to mention that the game itself is devoid of integrity, since we all know by now that it exacts a brutal toll on the brains and bodies of thousands of its players.
This reminds me of the gourmet cigar magazines that discuss qualities like “flavor notes” while ignoring the danger of the subject matter and failing to mention that the whole thing simply stinks.
