Becoming empty

Becoming empty

We are running out of common sense to think that assault weapons belong in anyone's hands but those of the military.

We are running out of tears to mourn for the dead who have been killed by senseless gun violence.

We are running out of patience for our politicians to create sensible gun control legislation that would hopefully curb the gun violence in this country.

We are running out of ways to explain to our children how mass executions take place in what should be a sanctuary of learning.

We are running out of ways to protect not only the safety but also the innocence of our children.

We are running out of confidence that we live in a safe nation. It seems as if the right to life is trumped by the right to carry portable weapons of mass destruction.

We are running out of the ability to comprehend how 20 children can be massacred in a school and there is not unanimous outrage to address the issues of gun violence.

It seems like the only thing we are not running out of is ammunition.
