Since we don't seem to be in any immediate, imminent danger from excess federal spending or inadequate revenues, why don't we just postpone the silly fiscal cliff until this time next year? All we need to do is amend the deadlines in the relevant statutes which created the cliff in the first place. It really IS that simple, isn't it?
We are slowly recovering from the recession, and I cannot discern any reason why that recovery wouldn't continue on while we give ourselves a one-year break from worrying about national debts and budget deficits. They can wait.
