After seeing the movie about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, “On the Basis of Sex,” last night, I was reminded of how far women’s rights have advanced in the past 50 years.
When the 116th Congress convened this month, women made up nearly a quarter of its voting membership — the highest percentage in U.S. history.
We’ve come a long way.
So imagine my surprise — and anger — when I read Steve Kelley’s sexist, archaic editorial cartoon on Sunday: “As a modern woman, I’m all for eliminating traditional gender roles, at least until the waiter brings the dinner tab ...”
Gee, that might have been funny to some in the 1950s, but Mr. Kelley needs to check the calendar and his misogyny.
By the way, Mr. Kelley, in 2019, women still only make 80 cents to every dollar a man makes.
