Mount Washington Transit Tunnel reopens after smoke prompts closure

Port Authority has reopened the Mount Washington Transit Tunnel after a malfunctioning fan filled the tunnel with smoke.

The tunnel was closed sometime after 2 p.m.

Port Authority spokeswoman Heather Pharo said rail cars used the Allentown line to get around the problem, while buses were detoured via Arlington and Warrington avenues.
