State System and union reach tentative deal

The State System of Higher Education and the State College and University Professional Association (SCUPA) announced today they have a tentative deal on a new three-year contract.

The union covers 700 professional employees in such student services areas as admissions, financial aid, residence life and career services and in the registrars’ offices, officials said.

Union membership is to vote first on the tentative pact. If ratified, the State System board will then act on the agreement.

The proposed contract would run through June 30, 2019. Officials did not disclose details, pending approval by both sides.

West Chester University’s signature edifice is the Philips Memorial Building. The university has enjoyed an enrollment climb of 15 percent during the past five years as other State System campuses experienced declines.
