Witness to kindness
Early in December my son and I went to the Eat ‘n Park on Library Road in Bethel Park for lunch. We were seated in a booth close to the door. In the booth next to us sat a gentleman who gave a dollar bill to every child who came into the restaurant. It was so heartwarming to see the smile on his face and the shocked, then grateful, look on the faces of the adults and children. Everyone walked away with a smile.
I don’t know how long he was seated there or who he was, but I hope he’ll read this and know how happy he made not only the parents and children, but also the other patrons who soon came realize what he was doing. May God bless him.

A shining example of customer service
We would like to acknowledge a very honest man who works at the Giant Eagle in Bethel Park.
When we returned from shopping, we found the gift cards we had purchased were missing. We called the store and they were not there. The following day we phoned again and found that the employee working on cart return the previous evening had found them and turned them in to customer service. We were surprised and delighted that someone was so honest to return them. We just want to make sure that he knows how thankful we are that people like him are around. We hope he and his family had a happy holiday season.

Her bad luck is overshadowed by kindness
I had the bad luck to be involved in a rear-end collision on Veteran’s Day. Moreover, it was a hit-and-run driver who “totaled” my car.
However, the bad luck was overshadowed by the kindness shown to me by multiple strangers: A pedestrian stayed with me until I was OK. A woman came out of her house to offer me a bottle of water. At least three drivers stopped to see if I needed anything. One woman even went to the police station to identify the alleged driver. Officer Mike Fisher of the Brentwood Police Department was professional and very helpful. Everyone was kind and caring and goes to demonstrate the hometown spirit of Pittsburghers.
I am very grateful that I emerged relatively unharmed from the accident and my faith in people was renewed despite the bad actions of one individual.

Business as usual?
I want to thank the person who found my car keys at Macy’s in the Monroeville Mall and turned them in to the lost and found. That same day I received a call from the executive office that the keys had been turned in. I would also like to commend the personnel at Macy’s: sales assistant, floor manager, person in the executive office and security for very professionally handling my situation - when I was near panic. It may have been all in a day’s work for each of them, but it meant the world to me.

Help with a dead battery
When I returned to my car after a visit to Best Buy in Pleasant Hills, I found that my batter was dead. Instantly a man knocked on my window and asked if I needed help. He was able to jump-start my car and refused any payment. As he and his mother drove away in their car, I was able to see the word GOD prominently displayed on their door. They could have been angels.
