I was visiting my family in the Pittsburgh area, and we had tickets to the Phantom of the Opera. About 10 minutes before intermission, I noticed I could not find my cell phone, which I keep in a case that snaps on to my purse. I went out to the car, and it was not there, so I returned to the theater to ask about a lost-and-found area. Before I could ask the woman at the door, I saw my phone sitting there. I would like to thank the person who turned it in, saving me much aggravation and the embarrassment of having to tell my husband that I lost my phone. I appreciate your kindness.

A very dear friend of mine was activated from the Army Reserves last July and sent to Kuwait from where he travels in and out of Iraq. It has been an especially trying time for his friends and family who worry for his life daily.
At Christmas time, while a colleague and I were ordering chocolate candies for our clients from Nora Arensberg's in Brackenridge, I asked Ellie, the woman we have dealt with over the years, if she would ship to an APO military address. She said certainly, but she'd have to find out the cost. Several days later she called back to ask if the gentleman we were shipping the candies to would share them? I thought this was curious, especially because I had been shipping packages to him since he left, and he always said to send ANYTHING that he could pass around. Ellie said good. In fact, she had sent a larger package than I requested, and there would be no charge.
Apparently, none of the kind ladies who work there know anyone serving in this war, so they were eager to do something kind. Not only did they send extra candy, but they also wrote notes of support and thanks that were MUCH appreciated by my friend and his fellow Americans. As if this wasn't enough, I got an e-mail from my friend recently. He had just received an even bigger box of goodies with about 40 individual boxes to distribute.
I have found there are many kind and caring people who do wonderful things all the time and don't ask for thanks. Thanks again to Ellie and her crew, and when my friend comes home safe and sound, we will be up to thank you in person!
