David Dausey, provost of Mercyhurst University in Erie, is Duquesne University’s new provost, school President Ken Gormley announced Thursday.
The epidemiologist was chosen from among more than 100 candidates to succeed retiring Duquesne provost Timothy Austin. Mr. Gormley introduced the new vice president for academic affairs at a 2 p.m. news conference on the Duquesne campus in Uptown.
He called Mr. Dausey a scholar, academic leader and a believer in community engagement.
Me. Gormley said the university’s pick is “deeply committed to the Catholic spiritan mission” Of Duquesne as evidenced by the man and his resume.
