Eleven people were rescued by emergency crews as flood waters rose in Ligonier Borough today, Westmoreland County emergency officials said.
Emergency crews from Ligonier Borough and Township, Waterford and Latrobe converged on the flood zone around 10 a.m.
Most water had receded by 4:30 p.m., but crews continued pumping out water from soaked basements. No injuries were reported.

Heavy rains soaked numerous areas around southwestern Pennsylvania this morning as the National Weather Service office in Moon had weather advisories in place through much of the morning.
The forecast for the balance of the day was partly sunny with an isolated chance of a thunderstorm.
