Rostraver police said yesterday a man shot and killed his three children before turning the gun on himself.
The shootings occurred at 320 Mohawk St., in the Shawnee Point development.
The names of the victims have not been released, but police said the children's ages were 8, 6 and 4. According to a 911 call, each victim was shot once.
Police told KDKA-TV that the children were spending the weekend with their father, who was separated from their mother.
When the mother arrived at the home yesterday evening to pick up her children, she knocked on the door and no one answered. At that point, police said, the woman telephoned a family member who entered the home from an open door and found the man and the three children dead inside.
