Ex-editor is guilty

A Westmoreland County jury yesterday found the former longtime sports editor of the Observer-Reporter newspaper in Washington, Pa., guilty of unlawful contact with a minor.

Thomas Rose, 53, of Washington, was charged with arranging to meet and have sex last year with a 12-year-old girl he met in an Internet chat room. He faces up to 5 years in prison.

When he was arrested, he had worked for the Observer-Reporter for 29 years but no longer is employed by the paper.
