Plans on view Dec. 6 for Washington Co. bridge

Plans on view Dec. 6 for Washington Co. bridge

Preliminary plans will be displayed at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four to replace the four-lane Interstate 70 Bridge over Route 519.

The project is complicated because several South Strabane and Somerset township roads in proximity to the interchange will have to be relocated to accommodate improvements that will include building longer exit and entry ramps on I-79 and a wider median. The local roads are Lively, Donley and Booth, all of which intersect with Route 519 near the ramps.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said comments received at the public meeting will be considered when final plans are prepared for the project, which is expected to be under construction in several years.
