Whitehall man sentenced to prison for causing fatal wrong-way crash

A Whitehall man who drunkenly veered across the center line of Brownsville Road and caused a fatal wrong-way crash in 2015 was sentenced to prison today.

Colin J. Kenney, 23, was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in prison and five years of probation by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Beth Lazzara. Kenney pleaded guilty in October to charges of homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence after the Dec. 19, 2015, crash that killed Joseph Edward Fanzo.

Investigators said a pill bottle holding what they suspected was marijuana was found at the scene of the crash.

Kenney, whose legs were injured in the collision, was intoxicated at the time, a blood test revealed.
