Munhall, former authority manager to try to resolve dispute

Munhall, former authority manager to try to resolve dispute

Munhall officials and Michael P. Terrick, the fired manager of the Munhall Sanitary Sewer Municipal Authority, are attempting to resolve a dispute in which Mr. Terrick has gone to court to try to get his job back.

A court hearing that had been scheduled for Dec. 8 was canceled while both parties work toward a resolution, according to court documents.

A conciliation hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 6 in the Civil Division of Allegheny County Common Pleas Court before Judge Michael F. Marmo.

Mr. Terrick was terminated by the authority on Sept. 15. He had worked as manager since 2007.

Transcripts from a nearly four-hour โ€œinvestigatory hearingโ€ before the authority on Sept. 14 outlined 40 areas of concern that authority members had about Mr. Terrickโ€™s performance in the job.

Mr. Terrick repeatedly said that all of his actions were in accordance with his contract.

Board members said Mr. Terrick gave himself 2.5 percent pay raises without their approval and said that he worked from his home, without authorization, instead of at the borough building.

Mr. Terrickโ€™s salary was $75,000 a year, members said at the Sept. 14 hearing, but he paid himself $65,000 in 2009 and amounts ranging from $81,000 to $88,000 from 2010-2015.

Mr. Terrick said at the hearing that he frequently โ€œunderpaidโ€ himself in some years and then made up the amounts in later years.
