Police said more than 20 gunshots were fired overnight at a West Mifflin home, with one bullet coming within a foot of striking an infant asleep inside.
The occupants of the house on Glencairn Street told police that someone knocked on the door around 3 a.m. Shortly after, the people outside opened fire.
“Stuff was just flying at us everywhere,” homeowner Eric Chedwick told Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV. “I tried to jump up and then there were a couple more shots that came in. So, I hit the ground and I started yelling, ‘Everybody down! Everybody down!'”
Mr. Chedwick, who was in the living room when the gunfire erupted, said his wife and their daughter’s 3-month-old baby were sleeping in a bedroom. The daughter and her boyfriend were in their own bedroom.
Mr. Chedwick said at least one bullet came within a foot of hitting the newborn, KDKA reported. No one was injured.
The gunmen left the scene in a car, but Mr. Chedwick and others in the house were unable to give police suspect or vehicle descriptions.
