Fayette County crash kills one, injures one

A Connellsville man was killed and a woman was injured when a car they were riding in crashed and caught fire Sunday night in Fayette County.

Andrew K. Vrabel, 25, was a passenger in a Dodge Neon when the driver, Shawna M. Courie, 33, of Vanderbilt, failed to complete a left turn on Buena Vista Road in Franklin. The car left the road shortly before 9:45 p.m., according to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police in the Belle Vernon barracks.

The car went over a culvert, before crashing into a tree, state police said. Mr. Vrabel, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unable to get out of the vehicle as it caught fire.
