Meadows job fair rescheduled due to snowstorm

Meadows job fair rescheduled due to snowstorm

Faced with a possible snowstorm, The Meadows Racetrack & Casino has postponed a job fair scheduled Saturday for people interested in applying for table game jobs, including dealers.

The job fair, to be held at the Holiday Inn Washington-Meadows Lands at 340 Racetrack Road near the casino, will be rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The casino also has a job fair scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the same hotel. Meadows officials are billing the event as a "talent search" and are encouraging applicants to "audition" for table game dealer jobs by singing, doing a magic trick, telling a story, or providing some other type of entertainment. Each applicant will be given 30 seconds to perform.

Those who make a good impression will be invited to participate in the casino's table games school.

The Meadows expects to hire up to 400 people for table game jobs, the majority of them dealers, who can make an estimated $40,000 to $50,000 a year with tips. The casino is planning about 65 table games, with hopes of having them up and running in six to nine months.
