Former Fox Chapel students charged with robbery

Two former Fox Chapel Area School District students who were stabbed in Vermont during what police said was a drug rip-off gone awry have been released from the hospital and charged with assault and robbery.

The accused are Eli A. Baron, 18, of Fox Chapel and Michael R. Benedict, 18, of O'Hara.

Mr. Baron's bail was set at $10,000, while Mr. Benedict's was set at $50,000.

Last week, Joshua A. Mossburg, 19, of Indiana Township was charged with the same crimes in connection with a Dec. 3 assault on an alleged drug dealer on the University of Vermont campus in Burlington. His bond was set at $50,000.

University police said the three were involved in a plot to rob student Jarrett Clark, 19, of his stock of drugs.

Both Mr. Baron and Mr. Benedict were stabbed during a fight with Mr. Clark, while Mr. Mossburg served as a getaway driver, police said in an affidavit.

Police charged Mr. Clark with sale of LSD.

A university spokesman said Mr. Baron, a student at the school, is barred from campus and will face a disciplinary review.

Both he and Mr. Mossburg graduated from Fox Chapel Area High School in June. Mr. Benedict went through part of 11th grade at the school but left in November 2010.
