A much-debated plan to install decorative brick crosswalks in Seven Fields came to a screeching halt at last night's borough council meeting.

Borough manager Thomas B. Smith said that submitted bids increased anywhere from $161,000 to $255,000 over the initial March bids.

The borough was hoping to install the decorative brick crosswalks at several intersections.
