A flood warning is in effect until 12:30 p.m. today for Lawrence County because of high water created by ice jams and rapid snow melt along Neshannock Creek.
Flooding along the creek occurred last night in Hickory Township, north of New Castle. The Algoma Lane area, where three people were rescued from a home last night, is particularly hard hit. High water also is threatening the Lakewood-Neshannock Falls Road area.
Some residents report the flooding is the worst they've seen in at least 20 years.
The National Weather Service reminds motorists not to drive a vehicle into areas where water covers the road. The water's depth may be too great to allow a car to cross safely.
Across Western Pennsylvania, cold overnight temperatures will give way to sunny skies and highs in the 50s. Check out the latest conditions and forecast to plan the day. Commuters also can access the updated traffic conditions.
