Mars principal faces hearing after run-in with police

The principal of Mars Area High School faces a preliminary hearing June 4 on charges stemming from an altercation with a Mars police officer.

Anna Saker of Adams was charged Sunday with four counts of disorderly conduct and one count of obstructing administration of law. Her husband, Nazih V. Saker, also was charged.

The incident occurred last Thursday as Mars patrolman Daniel Tressler was checking for speeders. He clocked Mr. Saker driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone, police said.

Mr. Saker claimed he wasn't speeding and yelled obscenities at the officer, police said.

He would not sign the citation, and drove away. Officer Tressler followed him to the couple's home, where Mr. Saker threatened the officer and grabbed his arm and shoved him backward, police said.

When Officer Tressler pulled out his baton, police said, Mrs. Saker stepped between them four times and refused to move.
