A bridge-replacement project that has closed part of Thompson Run Road in Ross this summer should be finished by the end of the month, according to the Allegheny County Department of Engineering and Construction.
But when the span off Babcock Boulevard reopens near Radcliff Road, the county will close another part of Thompson Run Road near Vilsack Street to replace a second bridge, work that will probably last through December.
Depending on where they live, people have been using either Siebert or McKnight roads as detours.
Allegheny County Construction Manager Doug Aiken said some of the traffic that has been causing congestion on Siebert Road should be alleviated while work takes place on the bridge near Vilsack.
Motorists leaving the Woodbridge housing development will be able to drive south toward Babcock Boulevard and McKnight and Evergreen roads.
Others who know their way around the area can use Vilsack, turn right on Anderson Road and again on McElheny Road to get around the closure, Mr. Aiken said.
