2 dead, 1 hurt in crash on I-79 in Butler County

A Mercer County man and a 6-year-old girl were killed and a woman was injured when a sport utility vehicle overturned on Interstate 79 in Butler County.

State police said Kevin Taylor, 33, of Farrell, was driving south at a high speed around 11 a.m. Thursday in Jackson when the vehicle swerved off and on the road, hit a guard rail, struck an embankment and overturned.

Taylor and Jamesa Morrison, 6, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected.

Taylor died and the girl was taken to Children's Hospital with severe injuries. She later died, KDKA-TV reported.

Elizabeth Morgan, 26, who was wearing a seat belt, had minor injuries and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian.
