Man run over on sidewalk in Export

A man sitting on a curb outside a Westmoreland County bar late Friday night was struck by a car that had been parked on the sidewalk and driven by a man who state police said was intoxicated.

State police said John Sullivan, 24, of Export received moderate injuries to his legs and torso in the accident that occurred at 11:30 p.m. outside of Joey's bar in Export. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian.

Police said Phil Coll, 41, had parked his car on the sidewalk in front of Joey's and ran into the bar. In the meantime, Mr. Sullivan came outside and sat down in front of the car.

Mr. Coll returned to his car and did not see Mr. Sullivan sitting in front of him. He pulled out and struck Mr. Sullivan, police said.

Charges of driving under the influence will be filed against Mr. Coll, state police said.
