State grants totaling $25,000 will be divided among eight community groups in Plum, a staff member of State Sen. Sean Logan, D-Monroeville, announced at Monday's council meeting.
The money will be used to refurbish existing facilities or build new ones, and buy on-site cardiac defibrillators and new equipment.
Recipients include Plum Borough Athletic Association, the Plum Aqua Swim Club, Boy Scout troops 877 and 899, East Suburban YMCA, St. John the Baptist Athletic Association, Plum Midget Football Association and Plum Soccer Association.
The cost of the projects outlined by the groups in their grant applications totals $25,865. The borough will make up the shortfall of $865.
