Proposed Market Square grocery may open in late spring

The Market Square grocery planned by developer Ralph Falbo is set to open in the late spring of 2014.

Mr. Falbo officially announced this morning that he is teaming with the owners of Vallozi's restaurant and the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation to open the store in the Thompson Building at 435 Market Street. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported in today's newspaper that Mr. Falbo was close to a deal on the store.

The grocery, Downtown's first since 2010, will feature fresh meat, seafood and produce and wine and household staples. There also will be a coffee bar and community space.
