Man, 76, to stand trial on attempted luring charges

A 76-year-old man has been ordered to stand trial on one count of attempted child luring and two counts of stalking.

Pittsburgh police said Harold Mudd, whose address was not released, was arrested May 29 for attempting to lure a 15-year-old girl into his vehicle in Brighton Heights. He appeared at a preliminary hearing Friday.

The teenage girl told police on April 13 and May 10 that Mr. Mudd drove by and made obvious attempts to lure her into his silver Chevrolet pick-up truck.

While investigating, police learned another teenager filed a similar report in 2010. That girl told police Mr. Mudd asked her where she was going and if she would come over to his truck. He then demanded she enter his vehicle, police said. The girl was able to see Mr. Mudd's license plate number and reported it to authorities. That incident also occurred in Brighton Heights.

Detectives believe there could be more victims and ask anyone who may have experienced a similar encounter with Mr. Mudd to call detectives at 412-323-7141.
