A system enabling Carnegie Mellon University students to access grades, review course schedules and add and drop courses electronically has been offline since Tuesday due to a hardware malfunction, the school said yesterday.
Workers hope to have the Student Information System back up by today. Meanwhile, the university, with 10,000 students, has extended the spring semester add/drop deadline that had been today until Monday at 5 p.m., spokesman Ken Walters said.
Tampering is not suspected and no data has been lost, he said.
