1 dead in crash on I-79 in Washington County

A Westmoreland County man died after he lost control of a water tanker on I-79 in Washington County this morning, officials said.

The Washington County coroner's office said Paul Wahlbaum, 51, of Mount Pleasant was driving north on the interstate when he lost control of the vehicle near Weaver Run Road in Amwell shortly after 5 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene roughly an hour later. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
