Reader Robert W. Newman, president of the Radio Listener's Lyceum in Forest Park, Ohio, sends this advice on transferring audio cassette tape to CD:
I have read a recent column of yours where you are instructing Reader Mary in the process of transferring audio tape to CD.
You only mentioned one way, as computer geeks are prone to do.
May I offer an alternative. (At this moment I am transferring a cassette to CD by the following method.
As you stated you will need a player (this process will work for any analog mode, including 8 track, reel to reel, LP, etc.)
1) You run a line out to a line in on an amplifier (it is nice if you also have an equalizer between your original source an amplifier if possible).
2) Next go from the AMP line out to a CD or DVD recorder.
(I use a LITEON model LVW 5006, DVD recorder)
3) If you use the DVD recorder you will need a TV (or other video unit),so that you can go through the menu for the set up.
A Pocket Protector Award to Robert. Thanks so much for the advice.
