When and where: Saturday night at Heinz Field UPMC East Club Lounge, North Shore
#DinoBash: Giant dancing dinosaurs greeted tiny guests and their parents for the annual UPMC Children’s Ball to support the Matilda H. Theiss Child Development Center. Kids (and kids at heart) enjoyed plenty of fun activities such as building their own dinosaurs, face painting, inflatable skee ball, karaoke, balloon sculptures, miniature golf and a princess hair salon. A strolling supper had tummies growling for more dino bite chicken tenders, fruit skewers with yogurt dip and roasted turkey breast. For dessert? Dino eggs (naturally). Families took photos with Disney princesses and superheroes alike, got to meet a dinosaur named Spiney (a 10-foot-tall, 15-foot-long mechanical puppet) and enjoyed local dance team Dance Mechanics. It was a ROARing good time!
#ForTheKids: The Matilda H. Theiss Child Development Center, a component of Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC, helps children who have experienced many forms of trauma. “We are a program with roots in the Hill District, serving children and adolescents who have been neglected and abused,” said Dr. Kimberly Blair. “People think that because they are little, they won’t remember things that happen to them, but we have found that if we intervene early and work with the child, we can help to break cycles of violence and encourage a healthy, happier future.” To learn more: 412-383-1575.
#SEEN: Dr. Martin Lubetsky, Stan and Ruth Geier, Miss Pennsylvania’s Samantha Lambert, Tyler and Brandi Kennedy with daughter Cookie, and new to Pittsburgh (via Hong Kong) Nitasha Kumar with Shilpi and Vishal Jhanji and their daughter Prisha and son Etash.
