Brunch Challenge events supports Northside Common Ministries

#GivingBackWith-Brunch: More than 250 guests, including Mike Smith, CEO of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and Mark Birbo, president of the Birmingham Foundation, brought their appetites Saturday morning to the New Hazlett Theater on the North Side to support Northside Common Ministries with its annual Brunch Challenge. “We wouldn’t miss this! It’s one of our favorite events of the year,” said Joyce Mosley, who enjoyed pancakes and performances from a German dance troupe, Swiss singers and Irish musicians. The event raised more than $8,500, which to put in perspective, can purchase as many as 16,000 dozen eggs from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to distribute to NCM’s pantry throughout the coming year. Currently, the pantry is the largest in the city, serving as many as 1,000 households each month. “We focus on providing the best quality and nutritious food available for low-income individuals that we serve,” said Jay Poliziani, executive director of NCM.
