Random Acts of Kindness: Generosity of others proves inspirational

On July 10, my husband and I pulled into the drive-thru at the Dunkin’ on Route 51 in Brentwood to get some doughnuts for the nurses, security, escorts and other staff at West Penn Hospital.

We were on our way there for Day 5 of chemo for my husband, who is in his fourth round of treatment for leukemia. We enjoy taking them doughnuts because everyone is so friendly and pleasant, which makes the day a little brighter.

When I went to pay, the clerk at the window said the person in the car in front of us had paid for our order. It was two dozen doughnuts — not just a cup of coffee. We were amazed and delighted that someone was that generous.

I can't tell you how that changed our day. We both smiled and felt so special. So, of course, we paid for the car behind us. I hope it continued all day. Thank you for making our day.

The staff at Dunkin’ gets kudos, too, for always being friendly and efficient. We went through there in no time.
