Random Acts of Kindness: Funeral home's benevolence a lasting memory

This act of kindness happened many years ago. It will stay in my heart forever.

My first child, a boy, passed away on June 21, 1969, the first day of summer. His name was John Michael Wilson. He was 3 years, 5 months old.

My husband and I had very little financially. We lived in Dormont at the time. Our family went to Beinhauer’s Funeral Home. We talked to Rick Beinhauer, who took care of all the arrangements for us.

The funeral home donated the casket and gave us a three-day viewing plus the chapel at Calvary Cemetery the day of the funeral — all for $200.

The Beinhauer family was a godsend to our families. There are angels among us, and God bless each and every one of the Beinhauers.

I will always appreciate and never forget what they did for us.
