The New York import lasted just under a year in Pittsburgh’s North Side.
A pioneer in the movement to “Drink Beer from Here,” Bocktown Beer & Grill soon will be no more.
Owner Chris Dilla is telling customers and social-media followers today that the North Fayette location will close at month’s end.
“We were unable to get to an agreement on how to move forward with our lease,” she said in an email that referenced the closing this past July of her Bocktown in the Beaver Valley Mall in Center, Beaver County.
She said that that closure left her with not enough “working capital” to expand the original location.
She directed followers and friends to this farewell — bocktown.com/b-log/cheers/end-of-the-bocktown-era/ — in which she stresses that the North Fayette restaurant still is open and that she may look for a new location “and/or direction for our brand.”
She notes: “When we opened our doors in 2006, Pittsburgh only had 3 breweries and the local gastropub scene was non-existent. Yinz guys, we have come a very long way! I could not be more proud of all that has come to be in our region and all of the great opportunities and experiences this era has given to us.”
