Duquesne Light continues to restore electricity to those who lost it during the past week's storms, leaving 400 without power by late this afternoon, a company spokesman said.
By Friday night, all those whose service had been disrupted by the storm will have their power restored. Many of these customers are in Beaver and western Allegheny counties.
Those who are waiting in Pittsburgh and South Hills areas should be reconnected by tonight, spokesman Joseph Vallarian said.
Allegheny Power still has more than 20,000 customers in southwestern Pennsylvania without power, about 2,100 of them in Allegheny County.
A sign of improving conditions is that several shelters established to keep people warm have been closed as power returned to their areas.
The Red Cross reported today that the shelters in Elizabeth, Washington, Youngwood and Bentleyville have been closed.
The shelter at the American Legion post on Railroad Street in Point Marion, Fayette County, remains open.
