PPLSolutions opens call center in Humboldt

When you call PPL, there is someone there to talk to you.

A few years ago, the utility created PPLSolutions, which is a customer care service that serves award-winning energy retailers throughout the United States.

Martha Herron, PPL’s regional manager, said PPLSolutions has opened a new customer care center at 106 Maplewood Drive in the Humboldt Industrial Park - in the former Hilton Worldwide Reservations Center - as it continues to grow its client and customer base, which has grown more than 30 percent last year. That growth led to opening of the new facility.

“PPLSolutions continues to expand and grow to meet your business needs,” said Sue Stevens, director of customer care for PPLSolutions. “Our new customer care facility is equipped with the latest technology to help you operate more efficiently.”

Services provided by PPLSolutions include:

n Handling inbound calls.

n Save-the-sale calls.

n New sales.

n Outbound calls that include welcome calls, reminder calls for renewals, collection calls and customer satisfaction calls.

n Marketing email support to pull lists on an ad hoc basis to support email campaigns.

n Working with clients to develop creative emails.

n Automated emails, and welcome and collection letters.

Herron said the move to Humboldt was made Jan. 6.

“Ninty-three agents and management employees moved to Humboldt initially and now we have 116 employees there,” Herron said. “We are continuing to bring on more agents.” Herron said PPL Solutions does customer service for the energy industry.

“We currently handle customer service for multiple companies in the retail energy and regulated energy markets,” Herrron said. “Our clients serve customers throughout the United States. That does include PPL.”

PPLSolutions now has two call centers - one at Humboldt and one next door to WYLN-TV in Hazleton. Between the two call centers, PPLSolutions has 214 employees.

PPLSolutions is a subsidiary of PPL Corp. PPL Corp. (NYSE: PPL), with 2013 revenues of $12 billion, is one of the largest companies in the U.S. utility sector. The PPL family of companies delivers electricity and natural gas to about 10 million customers in the United States and the United Kingdom, owns more than 18,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States and sells energy in key U.S. markets.
