The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania is calling for submissions to its 45th Golden Quill Awards, the annual competition that recognizes professional excellence in written, photographic and broadcast journalism in Western Pennsylvania. The entry deadline is Feb. 6. All entries must have been published or broadcast last year. Rules and instructions for the awards -- open to all news professionals in 29 counties of Western Pennsylvania -- can be downloaded from the Press Club's Web site at www.westernpapressclub.org or call the Press Club at 412-281-7778.

New Business/New Offices

MedExpress Urgent Care opened a new center in North Huntingdon yesterday. Located on Route 30, in the former Hollywood Video building in Norwin Towne Square, this is the 10th MedExpress center in the Pittsburgh area.

Chipotle Mexican Grill will open at 509 Clariton Blvd., Pleasant Hills, on Jan. 23. Before opening its doors, Chipotle will sponsor a fund-raiser for Thomas Jefferson High School's Basketball Boosters from 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 21. Attendees pay $5 and will receive a burrito and a soft drink. Proceeds will benefit Thomas Jefferson High School's Basketball Boosters. Chipotle also will host a free burrito day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 22.

Grants/loans

The Paul N. Waite Family Foundation of The Pittsburgh Foundation has awarded EconomicsPennsylvania a $6,000 grant that will provide funding to support the Leonard M. Kokkila Center at Robert Morris University. This grant will help EconomicsPennsylvania continue to promote financial literacy in schools throughout Beaver, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.

Awards/Honors

For the second consecutive year, Allegheny General Hospital and The Western Pennsylvania Hospital have been designated as Premium Cardiac Specialty Centers by UnitedHealth, one of the nation's largest insurance providers. UnitedHealth's recognition of AGH and West Penn comes just a few weeks after both hospitals were also designated as Top 100 Centers for Cardiovascular Care by Thompson Reuters. AGH and West Penn were among just 15 U.S. teaching hospitals and the only such medical centers in Pittsburgh to earn the Thompson Reuters' distinction.

The High School Senior Marketing Campaign created by Anne Lehman and Barbara & Stephen Barry of In-Vision Studio Inc. garnered the first place prize in the 2008 AN-NE Marketing Awards, Professional Photographers of America's annual competition for marketing excellence. Lehman and the Barrys' entry will be on display at the Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona Sunday through Tuesday at the Imaging USA convention and trade show.
