Shell breaks WPIAL record

Hopewell High School running back Rushel Shell broke the WPIAL all-time rushing record tonight with a 54-yard run in a game against Mt. Lebanon.

Shell, a senior, broke the record of 7,646 yards, set from 1996-99 by Fort Cherry's Mike Vernillo, who is in attendance at the game. The run gave Shell 7,665 yards.
