UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State coach Joe Paterno said it's "50-50" that he will be on the sideline for Saturday's nonconference opener against Indiana State at Beaver Stadium.
But it's becoming more and more unlikely.
Paterno, still recovering from pelvis and shoulder injuries suffered in a practice collision with wide receiver Devon Smith this month, arrived at his weekly news conference today with the aid of a cane. And he has been watching practice from a golf cart.
Although he wants to be on the sideline, Paterno, 84, said the medical staff would prefer he work upstairs from the coaches' booth.
Paterno declined to name a starting quarterback, saying that both Rob Bolden and Matt McGloin would play against the Division I-AA Sycamores.
