Killed in the crash were Robert Bernardi, 47, of South Franklin Township, who was riding in Mr. Jacobs' pickup truck, and Richard Morris, 51, of Canonsburg, who was driving the other vehicle involved in the crash.

Mr. Jacobs crossed a grassy median on Interstate 70 in Canton and drove into the path of Mr. Morris, Washington County District Attorney John Pettit said at the time charges were filed. Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Bernardi had been at a Wild Things Christmas party prior to the crash, he said. His blood alcohol reading was 0.14 and a driver is considered legally intoxicated with a reading of 0.08.
