A fatal crash involving a tractor trailer closed one westbound lane of Interstate 70 this afternoon in Washington County, state police reported.

Grover C. Johnson, 68, of South Connellsville, died in an ambulance after he was extricated from his vehicle, according to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.

The crash occurred near the Dunningsville exit. Mr. Johnson was driving a truck west, which stopped in the right-hand lane. A tractor trailer rear-ended his vehicle, forcing it over a guardrail and down and embankment.
