Boy won't be charged in shooting, but others could be

A prosecutor said no charges will be filed against a 15-year-old boy who shot his 10-year-old cousin in the face on New Year's Eve.

But Mercer County District Attorney Robert Kochems stopped short of saying no charges will be filed in the incident, which remains under investigation. Mr. Kochems said the shooting was an accident.

State police said the 10-year-old girl was home alone with her cousin when she was shot about 6:30 p.m. with a handgun found in the home. The shooting occurred in Delaware Township, about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh, where the girl remains hospitalized in critical condition.
