The century-old Hot Metal Bridge has just gotten a little bit hotter.
That's because the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation spent $150,000 to illuminate the bridge over the Monongahela River with red, yellow and orange lights.
The bridge is one of two built to shuttle molten iron between Jones & Laughlin Steel Co. plants on either side of the river early in the 20th century. The lighted bridge was converted for use by cars and trucks in 2000 and the other was rehabbed for $10 million as part of the Great Allegheny Passage biking, hiking and walking trail.

History & Landmarks officials say the lights call attention to the city's industrial past.
