A judge today held one 17-year-old identical twin for trial on homicide and other charges in the shooting death of a man on the North Side, but dismissed the same charges against his brother.
Police charged both Devon and Jovon Knox with killing Jehru Donaldson, 18, on July 8 while trying to steal his car as Mr. Donaldson waited in front of his girlfriend's Brighton Heights home.
District Judge Richard Opiela held homicide, robbery and gun charges against Devon Knox of Perry South after hearing testimony from a 9-year-old witness.
The boy identified Devon Knox as the shooter and the person who told Mr. Donaldson to get out of the car.
However, Judge Opiela dismissed a conspiracy charge against Devon Knox and then dismissed all charges against Jovon Knox.
Jovon Knox's court-appointed attorney, Patrick Thomassey, argued that testimony from the witness indicated that his client did not have a gun and did not say anything to Mr. Donaldson during the alleged robbery attempt.
