Arrest made in Elizabeth Twp. child luring attempt

Police today announced they have arrested a Clairton man in connection with an incident Tuesday night in which a girl said a man tried to lure her into his Jeep.

Jason M. Cseripko, 29, was arrested last night at his residence on Van Kirk Street.

Elizabeth Township police said that the man drove up to a 15-year-old girl, asked if she had a boyfriend and then asked if she wanted a boyfriend. He attempted several times to get her to enter his vehicle, then asked her to meet him at a local baseball field.

The girl agreed so that he would leave, then walked to the nearby fire department and reported the incident. Traci Yavoich of the fire department attempted to pursue the vehicle that the girl pointed out, but was only able to get the first three letters of the license plate.

A check of records allowed officials to identify the man, they said.

Mr. Cseripko faces charges of harassment, stalking, attempting to lure a child into a vehicle, and corruption of a minor. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
