Large Army Reserve unit heading to Iraq

More than 400 U.S. Army Reservists were honored today in Coraopolis at a ceremony in preparation for their upcoming deployment to Iraq. It is the largest Army reserve unit to leave the Pittsburgh area for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The soldiers are members of the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, which draws soldiers from 40 states and three countries. They will leave for Fort Bragg, N.C., on Tuesday and deploy to Iraq in August. Their mission involves theater logistics management out of the Logistical Support Area Anaconda near Balad, Iraq.

The ceremony was at the headquarters of the 99th Regional Readiness Command.
