Mt. Oliver hit-run victim's condition improves

A Mount Oliver woman who was struck by a hit-and-run driver was upgraded to stable condition today.

The victim, identified by police as Josephine Mierun, 81, was hit Saturday by a Jeep about 6:38 p.m. as she crossed the intersection of Hays Street and Brownsville Road in Mount Oliver.

Ms. Mierun was originally listed in critical condition.

Allegheny County Police said the vehicle that struck her was a late model, dark Jeep with four doors with a partial license plate of "GCR."

The driver was described as a white man with a salt-and-pepper beard.
