2 sentenced in shooting that paralyzed victim

Two men were sentenced today in connection with a Downtown parking garage shooting that left a man paralyzed.

Allegheny County Judge Jeffrey Manning gave Marty Armstrong Jr. 25 to 50 years in prison. Lamont Fulton got 15 to 30.

They were convicted in January of robbing and shooting Michael Lahoff, 52, of Mt. Lebanon, who now lives in a nursing home in Baldwin Township.

Lahoff, a husband and father of two and a Boy Scout leader, was working as a computer and copier repairman on Jan. 3, 2003, when Armstrong and Fulton accosted him in a Downtown parking garage.

With a gun at his back, he gave up his wallet, but Armstrong pulled the trigger anyway, piercing Lahoff's spine. He was left paralyzed from the shoulders down.

Manning found Armstrong guilty of attempted homicide; he had pleaded guilty to several other charges. A jury hearing the same case found Fulton guilty of robbery, aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy.
